4th SA Innovation Summit – Call for Papers
“Innovation Legends – Ideas to Market”

Introduction:
The annual SA Innovation summit has engaged the top echelon of SA’s leading minds in academia, industry and government to support innovation in South Africa the past three years. RIIS and Sense2Solve want to invite all thought leaders in innovation to submit a paper in support of the summit theme and participate in this year’s summit. Your paper will be approved through our summit content team.
Theme:
The overarching theme for this year’s Innovation Summit is “Innovation Legends – Ideas to Market”. The 4th SA Innovation Summit will focus on the entire value chain from conception of an idea to prototype to commercialisation to building an international enterprise.
The main focus areas are:
1. The concept of an idea
2. From idea to innovation/invention
3. Corporate Innovation
4. Entrepreneurial Innovation
5. Co-Innovation/Open Innovation
6. Commercialising your innovation/invention
7. Building a business based on innovation
8. Different forms of innovation
9. Internationalising your idea/innovation/invention
10. Funding for all phases
Speaker requirements:
Presentations: The papers must be well researched and based on proven theory or case studies. It can be academic in content but the preferred presentation style is story telling. Presentations will be between 30-40 min long.
Workshops: Content must be well researched. The use of case studies to illustrate concepts is preferable. Summit organisers must receive the workshop material before the workshop (workbook/presentation) and workshop material must be made available to participants at the beginning of the workshop. Workshops will be 90 min long with 30-50 participants.

Time lines and dates:
- The summit will be held on 30,31 August and 1 Sept 2011 at the IDC Conference centre, 19 Fredman Drive, Sandton
- Deadline for submission of papers is 15 March 2011.
- The selection will take place during 16-30 March 2011 and everyone will be notified by no later than 15 April of the final selection
