Fourier and RIIS turn company innovation into financial returns

Innovation can be turned into financial returns. RIIS and Fourier are in partnership to offer Innovation and Open Innovation services and software to the South African Market. By harvesting innovative ideas, put minimal resources behind the ideas, companies are saving millions of rands per year. Innovation development offers employees the opportunity to make a difference, because they have the know-how to suggest innovative ideas to make money or save money. Marketing and production companies, TV shows, are doing this for years now. They put a platform down, with some incentives, and open the challenge to the public. And they get results.

Old Spice advertisement on YouTube is an example. They featured a video advertisement off a very attractive man in a towel in the bathroom, claiming that ‘your man does not look like this, but he can smell like him!’ They then invited the public to send ideas how the advertisements should continue, and in two days got thousands of ideas. They produced and published some of the best ideas. Old Spice sales world-wide more than doubled in that time. Investment into advertisements = two days filming in bathroom, add some open innovation, returns = in the millions. Who knows what would make woman buy this product for their men, the women out there. There ideas were the best to attract more women to look and react on this advertisement campaign.

It is important to market innovation in the organisation, and very important to manage innovation. RIIS worked in innovation for ten years now, and offers their IP and know-how as a service to drive innovation in the organisation.
