Module 1 and 2 was a great success. Module 1 was presented on 8 and 9 November 2010 and it was attended by 42 individuals. The theme was ‘Planning, strategy and technology trends’. The first day of Module 1 Dr Anthon Botha presented on business modeling for the knowledge economy starting off with his famous presentation,’Tomorrow’s World’. The second day Coen Bester presented “Building a business of value: People, Products and Profits”, with a practical approach which was very popular. Dr Kari Lepälä concluded the day with his expert knowledge on ‘Technology trends and roadmaps’ and ‘Technology Transfer’.
The theme of Module 2 was ‘Funding, pitching and Intellectual Property’. Nuno Pires gave overview presentations of funding in SA in the ICT sector and on the SPII Programme. Nuno taught the attendees the essentials of pitching and gave great pitching tips. More than ten people pitched to the panel which consisted of Invenfin PE, the ABSA Khula Fund, MAXUM (ICT incubator) and Nuno Pires while the audience watched and learned from the 5 minute feedback sessions after each pitching session. Treacle Private Equity, Raizcorp and Sibanda and Zantwijk also presented together with the panelists, which made it an one-stop-shop funding and incubation experience. The feedback was superb, almost 60 people attended.
